Laura E. Woodson has over 20 years of experience representing various parties in insolvency matters. Prior to coming to Scroggins & Williamson, Ms. Woodson practiced at Smith, Gambrell & Russell, LLP, and in a small firm specializing in Chapter 11 cases. Ms. Woodson’s practice is concentrated in representation of corporations, trustees, committees of unsecured creditors, and creditors in financial reorganizations and liquidations, and in out-of-court workouts. In the course of her practice, she has had extensive experience representing the various parties involved with financially struggling companies.

Ms. Woodson received her bachelor's degree from the University of the South in 1987. She earned her J.D. degree, cum laude, from University of Georgia Law School in 1990, where she served as a Notes Editor and on the Editorial Board of the GEORGIA LAW REVIEW.

Ms. Woodson is active in bankruptcy and insolvency-related bar and professional activities. She is currently President-Elect and a Director of the Southeastern Bankruptcy Law Institute. She is a past Chair, officer, and board member in both the Bankruptcy Section of the State Bar of Georgia and the Bankruptcy Section of the Atlanta Bar Association. She has served on the Atlanta Bar Association CLE Board of Trustees and the Judicial Selection & Tenure Committee of the Atlanta Bar Association. Ms. Woodson is a past Board member of the Georgia Chapter of the International Women’s Insolvency & Restructuring Confederation. Ms. Woodson is AV® Preeminent™ Peer Review RatedSM by Martindale-Hubbell® and is admitted to practice in all state courts in Georgia, the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, and the U.S. District Courts of the Northern and Middle Districts of Georgia.
